  1. You're confused??? I am confused... My Certificate (and I presume all the other students who utilized the same Sav S) has a HP endorsement only.
  2. Surely the $280 per hour is a typo... I mean crikey the students just want it for a little bit not buy the bloody thing... lol
  3. If only the Drifter was back in production... or the Fisher as factory built... or the Thruster....there is your Aussie Challenger.
  4. Google is your friend... I spent some quality time chatting to Chris at the last Natfly (thanks for the lift Maj)... http://conroyaviation.webs.com/contactus.htm
  5. Approved by which factory? Seems like a massive can of worms to me... Is the approval from ICP or elsewhere... Just asking about this aircraft because it is one I am familiar with... I noticed plenty of other inconsistencies which going strictly by the LSA rules potentially makes a LOT of aircraft no longer flying school approved... Unless CASA is prepared to cut the owners some slack... The ICP site mentions only DUC propellers... It’s possible to choose between two different engines: Rotax 912 UL 2 - 80 Hp with two-blade prop “Duc” with adjustable pitch on the ground; Rotax 912 ULS 2 - 100 Hp with three-blade prop “Duc” with adjustable pitch on the ground;
  6. Based upon this and the recent Audit report supplied by CASA ... many LSA factory built aircraft modified etc etc etc will these aircraft in time no longer be certified as suitable for training? For instance from my recall (I can't be bothered going back in to read the audit again) the Savanah Aircraft were fitted with a non-certified Brolga prop by the importer... is this going to be a can of worms in the coming months for many of the Ra-Aus training fleet?
  7. Thanks for the reply... I was curious as to the reasons.
  8. I have a question Peter... Reflex Wings... are they the way to go for beginners these days? I have read a bit on them... besides higher speeds is it true that they are less susceptible to collapses? I have been for one tandem Paraglider flight with Jean-Luc at Rainbow Beach and loved it... this was a few years ago now and after returning home from that holiday a local Ra-Aus school opened it's doors so I got my fixed wing certificate with them... As I have stated before elsewhere on the site... I wish I had just continued on with Paragliding as for less than the cost of my FW training I would have been able to have paid for a new paraglider wing AND the training... and could have enjoyed some great holidays in some of the picturesque areas you guys tend to operate from... and Eungala is just down the road... apparently a great site for the more experienced pilot. I was raised in a Gliding Club and my experience over the years leads me to believe that the challenge of soaring flight is the ultimate... You and mother nature locked in soft battle... always striving to go one better... Regards
  9. Stop it Tornado... off topic and not relevant. Give the man some time to enjoy the site before you start this BS.
  10. I reckon refueling during training is a very important part of training for proper fuel management. Sure it may cut down on the air time at the cost of profits for the school... but in my opinion at the cost of good training for students. (I am not an expert- I just know that refueling the aircraft was a very important aspect of my training)
  11. It cost me my faith in Ra-Aus to administer this sport safely... It cost them my membership. Lets hope if or when things are sorted the BS artists who seemed to think they could exclude people from membership due to not supporting their messed up stewardship are no longer there or I may not be allowed to renew in future. Good luck Ra-Aus.
  12. I guess we still have some way to go in OZ... especially among pilots it seems. The reason there is a Gay and Lesbian Pilots Group in the States is pretty obvious... There is still a lot of very subtle discrimination around... and some not so subtle. Equality is something that is unimportant to people who have have it. At least we can take comfort in the BIG changes I have witnessed over the last 20 years on this... These days 2 men can kiss live on National TV and our kids don't bat an eyelid (unless they are trying to impress their Homophobic parents)...
  13. Wasn't there talk of a SE Qld based plan to put the Gazelle back into production? Was in the last 12 months... Not sure how far or if it is going ahead.
  14. Does Brumby produce 24 rego factory produced Aircraft? Is the Hughes Speed range 24 factory built? Heck!!! Are any of them except Jabiru (how ironic!) actually still fully above board able to produce factory built 24 rego fly away aircraft?
  15. There seems to be 2 schools of thought within Ra-Aus on this subject in my experience... those that think they know... and those that don't know... I am sure there are those that actually do know... but they seem to be few and far between and I am yet to meet one. There seems to be so much guess work involved on deciphering any of the regs Ra-Aus flies under... The real catch is that I reckon CASA just recently cottoned on to this fact recently too.
  16. By far I would think the cheapest would be with a PPC (Powered Paraglider)... $4000 (or less) for a wing... $8000 (or less) for the motor... and say $2000 for Harness, Reserve Chute, Helmet, Radio etc The License would cost you about $2000 as well... And you can carry it in the back of your car and fly from just about any fairly open area in fair weather... I could kick myself looking back in hindsight... I could have trained and purchased my own Aircraft for not too much more than this Ra-Aus futility has cost me over the last 3 years.... I have been for a Tandem Paraglide with Jean Luc at Carlo Sandblow... I would thoroughly recommend it... http://www.paraglidingrainbow.com/
  17. $2k in training??? Where? Even the most conservative estimate comes out at $4000... and that is absolute minimum. Would have loved to have trained at that school.
  18. I met this living legend at Natfly last year... Was truly an honour... absolutely truly... to share a table with Neville White at the Presentation Dinner... Neville wrote the brilliant article in the last Sport Pilot mag. The aircraft is the Cab Wasp, designed and built by Neville... What a bloody legend!!! He flew his immaculate 95.10 Quicksilver to Natfly. (Hope Neville Doesn't mind me mentioning him... He is a very humble man. This was the highlight of Natfly for me and is a memory that I will always cherish.)
  19. I would be making a further inquiry of Ra-Aus... I would be interested in hearing the result...
  20. Seriously concerning isn't it! Of course logic would dictate that the natural next step for CASA will be to come 'a knockin' on doors further down the line where the problems the office didn't pick up on in expected and necessary self-audits were initially created... BIG trouble ahead IMO.
  21. Can anyone answer what is or is not an Airworthy Drifter... not one you would fly... rather one that if Ra-Aus or CASA were to be waiting for you when you shut down and went over the aircraft would not cause you or them any concern??? Seems to be a lot of different opinions here...
  22. That is amazing!
  23. Found him... That is definitely his hand.
  24. I wonder if it repels bugs/germs etc... If you painted hospital rooms and furniture with this stuff you could save some serious lives.
