  1. The RANS S-21 with a Rotax in it complies as per the specs from RANS. With the Rotax the MTOW is 1600lbs (727kg) and the stall is about 33kts from memory. The Titan powered S-21 is 1800lb MTOW (820kg) so can not comply even though its stall is 35kts.
  2. Turbo ...760 is now legal...just not the nuts and bolts paperwork and of course this has spanned 1 day so no one can find out any information about this rego until RAA are back from holidays or The Flying Auctioneer pops up here and tells us. So you like all of us will have to wait until we get more information. The rest is just discussion and presumption and bantering....stop getting your knickers in a knot and settle petal 🙂
  3. Glenn Group G is the new 760kg RAA designation Yes under the current rules it could registered but as I said not allowed to fly as yet. A C of A would be required and maybe not issueable now... dont know thats why I would like to hear from The Flying Auctioneer on here
  4. It maybe registered in Group G as it officially does extist as a category. Whether it has a certificate to fly though is another matter. Maybe Flying Auctioneer may be able to tell us some info on his discussions. I was looking at the specs that Red750 has posted. 130kts with a 912 seems pretty hopefull.... at 400kg empty
  5. CASA has approved it on the 2nd December and as Mike says RAA now have to come up with how it will be implemented and all the processes for maint and proper licence conditions etc. CASA then have to approve this but from what I hear it will be along the same lines as the experimental that is in place now for GA. I think RAA hope to get it done early this year maybe June but also they need to have in place any courses and specs for those courses and course material to comply with the rules
  6. So long as the weight is 760kg or lower and the stall speed is 45kts or less at any weight between 600 and 760kg is my understanding
  7. Who knows Glenn...it is CASA..the king of feet dragging in the gubberment
  8. There are other caveats though but its well under way
  9. Officially CASA says yes...BUT RAA havent done their part in getting all the finer bits sorted and published ..it is called Group G and is up to 760kg MTOW but a max stall speed at 45kts
  10. There is absolutely no difference between a normal Rotax engine and a certified one except a extra letter on the serial number...its not a different engine...it just comes with different paperwork....bureaucratic bullsh*t
  11. If you build it they will come :)...experimental we can use if you of course build a experimental or your own. There is no difference what so ever between the 2 versions except the certified one is for commercial ops. It comes with the required paperwork to make it so. For private ops I would expect you can use the experimental one but not if you are taking paid pax
  12. To go into Class C or E you will need a full power ADSB OUT transponder..thats all they care about..the ADSB IN is for your cockpit...so I think currently and it would make sense for ASA and CASA that they subsidize the full power TX and if you want the ADSB IN then you get a SE2
  13. Transmitting equipment here must be approved and typed by the ACMA I think this is probably the hold up. Usually anything the FCC approves it will get a aproval here
  14. I believe so..its been approved in the USA but it hasnt been released yet here but is expected to be. It is being used in the USA as I know a few there using it now I really like the satcom side of it but not sure if thats a free service or what yet. But that makes its truely a worldwide service and no ground stations are needed
  15. The TailbeaconX is a ADSB OUT only ...that gives you the full output power 200 or 250 watts for distance to send your realtime data. The SE2 is used as your reciever for ADSB IN. The only shortfall I see is the SE2 needs its own external antenna to increase its "looking range" It will see up to 40nm with its own inboard antenna but that totally is only if it is placed in a good position in the cockpit. Many things can affect it due to shielding inside the cabin. The SE2 with its 20 odd watts with a external antenna would be far better for IN and OUT which it does. Anything with radio as JackC will attest to as well is "height is might" no matter how much power you have the next is path loss. That path loss also includes what is blocking you transmission physically
  16. Well if CASA or the gubberment fella is going to front up a lot of the cost then get the best you can. The Tailbeacon also has Aerion the satellite based ADSB one as well as terrestrial and throw in a flashy bright light in the back for some bling....shit you have won me over Oh by the way I do have a SE2
  17. Thruster...I have a MGL EFIS..it directly connects to it...I dont need the head
  18. I would get one of these https://www.uavionix.com.au/tailbeaconx/
  19. So why do you fly outside the limits...dont do what your not supposed to do and its not a issue...remember its always better to ask for forgiveness than permission I would much rather know where every aircraft is when i am flying.... you may not fly in a busy area...a lot of us do though
  20. You can get a ADSB in and out with the GPS included for 5k...full power out etc
  21. I was just speaking to someone at redcliffe about another matter and he told me about it..its a private Rockwell Cammander..engine failure apparently.. not sure how many POB or if they are ok
  22. Havent had a lot of time lately to work on the lower cowling for Mabel due to some family stuff I have changed my mind about 10 times when trying to come up with something for the cowl to be functional but sort of reasonable looking. Because I have the big bore fitted I need to make sure I have enough water cooling so I have changed the angle of the radiator to expose it a bit more and also widened the intake area to it. The oil cooler has always been fine as most know even in winter you need to block off about half the oil radiator to keep the engine oil temp to about 90deg C I have started shaping the cowl a bit now but no pics as of yet. I hope to get this shaped then make a mould that I can just pull a shell out of then with a std lower cowl you just graft this onto your bottom cowl then cut out the inside so it should allow you a bigger muffler and better cooling. Hopefully you will pick the different versions I have gone through. There are 2 pics where you will see a lot of resin and micro (bog) over both sides and a bit on the front..this will be the basis for the new lower cowl...I am working on getting the side shape a bit better
  23. Thats a excellent weight
