  1. Telstra has the best service for flying, especially remotely. I use Boost Compare Our SIM-Only Mobile Phone Plans - Boost Mobile It uses the full telstra network ( some resellers don't ) and you can stream apple music free of data use. It is in my samsung tablet which I use for Ozrunways and everything else. I hotspot my tablet to my phone. If you recharge before the date of expiry, the data rolls over.
  2. 100 hrs in 20 yrs?........ my alarm bells are ringing on that one! Of course it's all relative to purchase price and proposed length of ownership. An overhaul or repair factored in to a purchase price and amortised over your ownership period may provide very good value. Noting the safety factor of flying behind an overhauled or new engine. An overhauled engine would give an increase in the outright value of the aircraft, so the money spent is not a total loss. If looking for an overhaul quote, sending your engine overseas (airfreight) may provide better value than here, even with the poor exchange rate. About Us - Aero Sport Power provide experimental engine overhauls and Pro Aero Aviation for certified engines. I believe an engine returned after repair is exempt from gst but you'll have to check that.
  3. I could be wrong but I think the screen is the number one cause of heat. An external gps will probably give a more accurate location and save some battery power....
  4. The engine lost power to idle soon after take off from a strip it had landed and stopped at, a short time previously. An experienced Rotax L2 looked at the aircraft before it was flown home. The engine ran fine and did not exibit any problems. The flight home and subsequent engine runs were all ok. The loss of power was put down to vapour lock. It is assumed heat soak from a freshly shut down engine heated the fuel and components.
  5. A few years ago the RAA sent out email requests to see log books. From memory, not many complied....
  6. If we get rid of the f18's we HAVE to make the 35's work irrespective of the cost. .... So some politician can turn around and say "see, nothing wrong with the f35"....
  7. Some are also being sold to Canada as front line fighters...... We should have kept them and just bought less lemons (F35's)....
  8. https://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/aircraft-maintenance-logbook-review-service.72378/
  9. It seems to still have been maintained and flown......just the rego lapsed.
  10. This one? https://m.banggood.com/KUS-300mm-240-33ohms-Boat-Marine-Sender-Car-Truck-Gauge-Water-Level-Sensor-p-1382871.html?rmmds=search Not sure how it works.....a magnet it the float?
  11. If it's still in the portal "pending payment", just pay......and move along...
  12. I like the idea of a lightweight and cheap IFA prop with a simple cable and spring arrangement. Stops to set fine. Pull cable against spring tension to coarsen to another stop at max-course. The Bolly setup looked good. ...
  13. But paying the premium is not taking away from your childrens inheritance somehow......
  14. I am also ahead by about the price of a new Rotax (or close to it) without having insurance. My aircraft is recreational, in use and registration. As such I don't consider it a necessity in life.
  15. The aussie/NZ market is a drop in the ocean for a worldwide mfg. They won't be producing a radio just for us.
  16. Ring mounted Rotax's always seem much quieter than bed mounted ones.....
  17. Yeah, I was going to say just buy what you need from the dealer....
  18. I use JBM springs. Over 600 hrs with no breaks. Postage is expensive, so buy 2 sets. I agree that the standard Rotax are crap....... went through a few before I worked it out. http://jbmindustries.com/SOCKET.html I see Spruce also sell SS springs. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/gplssexhaustspring.php
  19. Even if you survive, chances are you'll be paralysed. .....
  20. Saudi arabia number 3? Rag tag Houthi's seem to kick their arse constantly...lol.
  21. Electric is perfectly suited to IFA props. They can be built far lighter than ICE systems and seriously improve power delivery and efficiency. Especially in folding or full feathering configuration. Remember, an electric motor can be turned completely off and in a reduced drag airframe, a gliding decent can extend range considerably. I wouldn't do it because of the extra wiring, control systems and props increasing weight, unless the smaller motors were considerably more efficient and powerful than a larger single.
  22. I would rather a well maintained aircraft and a poorly maintained log book......than vice versa. I'll be putting that $199 into my aircraft and giving the "review" a miss I think.... thanks.....
