  1. Great work Marty. With this kind if progress, you could be airborne at the end of summer.
  2. It has been four months since we heard from BEX. Are You Oh Kay?

    Bungee

Did you stick with the bungee, or go with the Viking spring? FYI: the Viking dealer is in your neck of the woods.
  4. Someone should really encourage him to do that. It would be a great read spanning a large part of aviation history.
  5. How do we update our avatar in the new site?
  6. Hi Ian and Ahmed, I was just wandering about avatars, but it is no biggie at all, really: just a nice to have. Some people have an interesting avatar and it is a bit difficult to see what is actually being shown. Avatars seem to be limited to 192 x 192. It would be nice if they could be somewhat larger but I know that -with multiple use with every single post- this would soon add to the amount you need to store in memory.
  7. Is No 7 Builders' Blogs? ...or any old Blog?
  8. That sounds like a great initiative. I have just started a build and pulled the first rivet last week. Should I wait for this?
  9. It all makes perfect sense. Well done on picking up cheap parts.
  10. I hope you will share why you have departed from the standard CH701 and chosen to go with: 1. Savannah main gear? 2. Savannah nose wheel? 3. Savannah slats? 4. Savannah fuel system? 5. Savannah control mixer? 6. Savannah flap handle? * 7. Savannah Y-stick? 8. Savannah rudder pedals? 9. CH750-style trailing edge? 10. CH750-style inset trim tab? I am really intrigued!! * I will be fitting a Mark-Kyle manufactured flap handle to my Savannah. This has a better (and safer) operating angle of the flap lever as well as an additional notch.
  11. I am drinking in all these modifications/adaptations that you have made with both interest and admiration.
  12. I have been looking at the Savannah manual quite a bit today: it is IT-ALIEN English throughout.
  13. ...the ear-to-ear smile says it all! ?
  14. Thanks Ian and Ahmed! it is all good.
  15. I think Bob is implying he will use two resistors. The one will be to limit the current to the LED to stop it burning out. The other will be in parallel with the LED to increase the current through the switch to approximately the same current that the incandescent lamp would have drawn, before it was replaced by the LED.
  16. I am glad you are fixing all the through bolt problems with the new set up. Well done! I have a few questions: 1 Where are the Private Messages? I don't seem to be able to find them. - FIXED (on PC click the envelop in the side menu, on mobile the old layout is returning soon) 2 Is it possible to show notifications for private messages like it did on the old system? - FIXED (on mobiles the old layout is returning soon) 3 Is it possible to show notifications for new posts placed on threads I am following like it did on the old system? - FIXED (on mobiles the old layout is returning soon) For 2 and 3 above it used to show up at the top as soon as we are signed into Aircraft Pilots - FIXED (please see above)
  17. I suppose the biggest issue with this is the reliance on one switch to 'tell' you that you only have a few litres of fuel left in the reserve tank. There have been a number of reports on the internet saying that this switch is not very reliable. The only way to properly test it would be to drain all 4 tanks and a little bit of the reserve tank as well to see whether the switch is operational. PS: I cannot find any of the references on the internet now which speak about the problems with the reserve tank switch. Perhaps others may have come across this as well?
  18. I am happy for you that you are nearing completion. I hope the painting goes well. I am at the other end of construction, namely the beginning. I am deburring three sets of parts of my plane: the fin, the rudder and the rudder extension. It is pretty time consuming; only one of the three sets have been completed.
  19. Savannah wheel troubles? It all sounds like a circular argument to me!
  20. ...and me? I haven't heard of any major issues with Savannah wheels!
  21. JG3: do you have any pictures of the opening window that you use for photography?
  22. Great stuff Marty! Crack open a champagne.
  23. Sincere condolences to the loved ones who remain behind. The time ahead won't be easy.
  24. I hope the US won't do that again! There could be far more disruption presently that the world relies so much more on GPS nowadays.
  25. Very interesting: do you remember approximately when this was?
