  1. Hi Ian, I hope that Caitlin's recovery is still progressing well. Thinking of you and the family.
  2. Yes, losing Maj was a sad loss.
  3. That's a pretty fancy looking panel!!
  4. Keep it up P47. You inspire us all!
  5. I fully agree. This old software platform is more user friendly (from my perspective anyway) as well as more familiar. This makes it easier for a busy person to use, rather than having to relearn things about operating the site. I would be happy if the Recreational Flying stayed on this platform into the future!
  6. Why did you give up full sized flying Winsor?
  7. I completely agree. If an aircraft is designed for a particular maximum weight, adding floats should not alter the design limit. It is a strange rule. Therefore, staying with the realm of being illogical, if there can be a whopping 50 kg leeway for floats, why not 15 or 20 kg for a ballistic chute?
  8. Did they calculate the mass of the aeroplane and ascertained whether this was less than the design load of the crane? I would say 'NO!'. I am also interested why they needed to lift the plane.
  9. I would ask them nicely to have the forfeited points reinstated.

    Autopilot

Hi Yiannis, How did your Dynon autopilot work out in the end?
  11. Your aircraft looks very nice Tom. It has been a pretty quick build. Your blue looks similar to Perry's although you used white as an extra colour. My wife and daughters would like me to paint my Savannah blue as well. But having only spent two hours deburring the fin parts, I am going to be some time before the painting decisions have to be made.
  12. I made a start on my aircraft in February, logging 2 hours only. Since then work, family and community commitments has kept me away from my Savannah :-( Using your hours as a yardstick, I have 1538 hours to go! Your aircraft looks lovely Perry. When will she be flying? ...and who will be doing the test flight?
  13. The UK? Aren't Rotax engines available from Austria any more?
  14. So, your namesake is "Guest" ?
  15. Yes. And, unlike hydrocarbon consuming helicopters, the aircraft does not get lighter over the duration of the flight because batteries weigh essentially the same full or empty.
  16. Thanks for sharing this NP. It is an interesting read. It is interesting that this dilapidated (or rather, maintenance-neglected) aircraft was allowed to the CHOGM in the United Kingdom. "repairs with speed tape" :nonono: "four months house arrest in a Florida mansion" ...this sounds like heavy punishment befitting the crime!
  17. Nev (in post #12) sums it up well. A bit of nose down attitude can be helpful on strong winds.
  18. Fantastic Marty!
  19. Who makes this one, MT?
  20. Lovely!

    Bungee

From the United States, one opinion was that the Viking steel spring bungee "adds nearly 3 lbs" (1.36 kg). So, I am guessing the "nearly" implies an added weight of around 1.2 kg. If so, it will increase the total Savannah weight by 0.4%.
  22. That is a good question. How can such corrosion be prevented?
  23. In New Zealand it is legal to let off fireworks in your back yard. I could use an expired rocket then.
