  1. I have a few questions about your helpful tool thread: 1. With more experience, do you think that these cleco numbers were about right? 2. Why did you need to buy two cleco pliers? 3. Did you go for a metric or imperial stepped drill? 4. At which outlet did you obtain the rivets and rivet squeeze locally? 5. Which emery wheel did you settle on as being the best for the deburring job?
  2. Welcome. Keep us up to date with your progress.
  3. "Coupled with layoffs and a recent scaling back in delivery estimates for the aircraft with foldable wings, how Icon and the A5 fare from here isn't clear" It does not sound good for the future of this type.
  4. I would not discount wing strobes so easily as some seem to do in this thread. Safety is often made of many components and layers: strobe lights are just one potential safety factor. Even if one in-flight incident could be avoided by someone else seeing the flashing LED, it will be all worth it.
  5. They had a navigation gadget called a compass and this served them well.
  6. I fear the worst. Many builders have posted on here or told me that the ICP leaves a lot to be desired. In readiness for my build later this year, I am acquiring a number of items. I recently bought an air compressor. Fortunately, I have a good understanding how an air compressor works because the Sino-English translation makes it impossible for me to understand how the machine works: I hope the translation of the Savannah's build manual won't be this bad!
  7. Fantastic
  8. Do you have a picture of the bracket (minus the tablet)?
  9. This is becoming a very interesting thread!
  10. I still regularly come across Maj Millard's words of wisdom in these forums. Every time I do, I think of the tragic end of his life. Great to see you back on the forum, Dazza! Now, this thread had better go back to Super Stol (Just Aircraft).
  11. Hi Pilot 13A: .
  12. "Since then they've been showing a greatly reduced price - but the FWF has more than taken up the "savings"." That is what I have noticed as well and it concerns me. The net cost of the whole package hasn't really changed much overall.
  13. I am definitely interested: I have PM'd you.
  14. There were clearly some mechanical issues that were potentially disastrous. Hector seems to have ignored these matters: stultus stultus facit est. I hope that this won't bring in further rule tightening.
  15. BUMP: any clecos floating out there? I am still looking .
  16. This is a handy way to compare the fire wall sizes. Thank you. Looks can deceive because if you would have asked me I would have given my opinion that the CH701 was the narrowest. I am surprised to see that the Savannah actually has the narrowest fire wall!
  17. I would steer clear of any 3 cylinder engine for that reason. I don't want to be checking and tightening things constantly.
  18. Thanks Erd. It's probably not worth going that way then.
  19. That's really useful. All we need now is a Savannah S/XL firewall drawing for a full comparison. Does anyone have such a drawing?
  20. There is still an expensive FWF package that has to be ordered with this engine. The cost could easily double by the time it has landed Down Under ready to be installed in your aircraft.
  21. That t-shirt is an interesting variation. Is there anybody out there?
  22. It seems to fit nicely, Bob.
  23. This is a wider question beyond Lyndon 's Savannah VG that came with an Italo-Inglisi build manual: Has the Savannah construction manual improved over the last ten years?
  24. Picture coming next week?
