  1. don't forget the physcological effect this must of had on the spectators ..................... very damaging for them as well as everything else
  2. ........................... bring on 2 yearly rego (twice as much fun and half as much bother .................. should be even < than twice as much cost)
  3. OZ manufacturing plants like Camit and Jab need to be nutured, accepted and improved ....... to compete and employ its been mentioned but not answered - someone must have enquired .......................... no point getting to carried away if the Camit is 'X' times the cost Whats the cost for a 4 cylinder Camit vs Jab and engine life difference ? Whats the cost for a 6 cylinder Camit vs Jab and engine life difference ?
  4. Nice Skee - the neighbours must be understnading or play loud music Most of in Oz probably have a fair bit of living space on the ground and a bit more room to spread out - so when you take wings and fueslage out the external walls of your hangar - it will be well worth a photo
  5. looks an expensive bird not to be insured ................ I would not take that risk

    Aileron flutter

what type of HINGE wire is used as the replacement ............... ? what is suitable ?
  7. Don't be irreplaceable; if you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted. It's always darkest before dawn. So, if you're going to steal the neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it. Never test the depth of the water with both feet. It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others. If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it. Some days you are the bug; some days you are the windshield. Never ask a barber if he thinks you need a haircut. Good judgement comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. Timing has an awful lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance. I didn't say it was your fault. I said I was going to blame you. Never miss a good chance to shut up. Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your mouth is moving. Diplomacy is the art of saying "good doggie" while looking for a bigger stick.
  8. thanks for that teckair and dafydd - HORSCOTS is googable .......................... we've come a long way .............. for a clever country ! (actually Qld as well - also being a smart state also (if you believe the pollie rhetoric))
  9. lie down on the couch and tell us more Teckair ....................... seriously though - sounds like a good story to tell Teckair ?
  10. Motz ............... or any instructor Of the 3 personality types you mention (assuming that is true) (over confident, under confident, and anti authority) ................. be great to hear some instructor experiences about what its like to teach the 3 types to fly
  11. Yes - i'd iamgine the movie won't get on the list of all time greats, but He certianly liked flying, booze and drugs .................... and not in that order either I thought the ending - about when his son asked him (Denzel - his dad) a question .......... was a great message (thesaurus says use the word 'poignant' at this point)
  12. very convincing andy - you might get the $ 200 lame account paid by medicare
  13. just keep studying the planes (and the numbers therein) for sale in the Sport Pilot mag eaglei ............ There are other sources as well ......... good time to buy (planes might get even cheaper - could be a bad time yo buy)
  14. looks like they are going to be picky no mention of salary ............... if I was an employer trying to snare someone - renumeration should be always mentioned (apart from flying instructors ......... its one of the fundamental reasons why we work) (could be the reverse of 'sir if you must ask the price you can't possibly afford it)
  15. yes ......... also about when the early radio stations broardcast (the 1920's) they were very powerful to tansmit some distance - farmers said the could the broardcast through there fence lines (fences acting as as a radio receiver)
  16. 'hell hath no fury like a women's scorn' ....................... (except my wife of course)
  17. when I worked in nz as a loader driver for aerial topdressing .......... 2 planes working the one strip that day - i can always remember the 2 fletcher pilots talking about some previous summer they both worked a strip together in the 'nude' - a very informal dress standard (I assumed they where in separate aricraft when this occured)
  18. epaulets ? - don't see them in these parts - would n't worry me I guess if you want to fly that would be the least of the wearers worries ............... you can't judge a book by its cover
  19. a lot of times - when the conversation is getting say .............. embroiled (good word that), if someone makes a comment that you are specifcally referring to - you should mention that persons name - avatar otherwise everyone else thinks that comment is fired at them (the conversation then starts to broil) even using a quote from the person may not mean you are referring to that ............ but the conversation that was generated by the quote if you get my drift
  20. Merv - an instructor's flying will be closer to perfection than my flying will ever be On the question of who can make an educated statement about instruction (assuming thats what you said) - I am educated in flying a plane and any discussion regarding instruction I am interested in - thats why I am having a go at the discussion. I am also assuming there is no erthereal concept us uneducated are breeching ?
  21. I am not an instructor Volksy - the comments about under the bridge where tough and not called for - those bloody instructors do live up high so you'll just have to agree that they are not as perfect as what they think they are ..................... I don't reckon that if you are a bad instructor you will always be a bad one - surely that must be training and persistence that can change to good also - just like learning to fly. We all start off knowing nothing and we learn along the way ................ to be a good instructor does not mean being a member of an exclusive club. You could argue that of all the pilots out there there is lots of good instructor material - its just they prefer to pull the heads of chickens, fix cars, paint houses, etc - they have and will not ever consider being a flying instructor - maybe because there appears to be enough of them anyway I'd say I have 10 instrucors and there was always a wide variation in their character and teaching style - never a bad one that I can recall - along the way I have seen myself and some instructors make silly mistakes - all quiet a worthwhile social interaction really
  22. Good subject Nev25 - a top of the morning to all instructurs Any scrutiny of what an instrcutor is / does is good ............ its a facet of aviation non instructors could learn from (diregarding bias, rock throwing etc etc)
  23. rd - forgiveness might be easier to obtain than permission ...................... however I suspect this is not the case for CASA an option could be a local aerial ag operator ......... if you have one handy - hose the hopper out ........................... they'd probably not flinch an eye in performing the drop (a small cash donation to avoid the ATO would n't hurt either) (don't worry to much about the herb and insecticides - we are probably all breathing it in anyway) or .................. you might have to hire a big cherry picker / find a car or pedestrian bridge / (cheaper) and lolly drop from there or put a cannon (field gun type arrangement) down one end of the field and use the lollies as shrapnel (you could get on the front page with that one - great advertising and it could be the start of new, unique business). that will keep the aforesaid ATO happy as well anyway good luck and please tell us what you did
  24. I've heard in this local area that a flying instructor commandered a local aero club hangar and then operated it as his private place of business (no access to anyone else) .................. needless to say the local members got their noses twisted and after a big legal fracas (of a number of years) the hangar was returned to the club and the said bsinessman spent time in the slammer ................... even if its not true its a great plot - I'll have to check my facts and let you know (................ please let it be true !)
