    I thought first morning start - a radial motor had to be pulled through to get rid of any oil in bottom cylinders - to stop hydraulic shock ? .................. or was that for compression ? I can understand this is possible for a DHC2 beaver with wheels but what about a float plane - what about big radials ........ worse still a Mars or a Sunderland ..................... whats the answer aviators ?

    Those new production tools - they called them 'women' - were used quiet extensively in that factory There seemed to be quiet a number and .................. the factory appeared to be having no problems with them

    this is cynical but I think Farri makes a conclusive statement: 'what's the point ................. ' I have always thought it would even be 'immediately' safer if someone was carrying a bomb that it was not discovered because if you are waiting in the pens for flight .............. there could a bloody big fire cracker going off any time soon

    Interstingly on the ABC there was a person interviewed - this person did not have a defined gender at birth - he had lived life as both sexes (now aged about 40) - this is the position that some find themselves in - in some cases not their choice he was selected at customs for a drug search (I don't know if cavities were involved (we all have cavities)) ........................ any way into the room with luggage he went and a strip search was done - after this was finalised he stated he was allowed to leave - WITHOUT THE LUGGAGE BEING SEARCHED ...................... he concluded that customs appeared more interested in the strip search than anything else:crazy:

    I travelled to central highlands yesterday - went by Qlink - as always can't complain about the service Its also encouraging that we live in such a safe society - I got a bomb test at brisbane airport - a breatherlizer test in Emerald town - AND a bomb test at emerald airport ....................... crikey

    that would make a good new thread, that FH - there are lots of instances of planes that have flown away by themselves - their landings would of no doubt been more spectacular

    another good reminder is what a well known radio announcer says which helped me: 'a good way to quit smoking is to stop sucking on the ends of them' ................. sort of reinforces what smoking is all about in a way

    reading the latest sport pilot mag and a particular plane in that mag - it said one notch of flap to be selected for take off I can't imagine any ultalight wouldn't get off the ground without flaps being selected (assuming the plane has flaps) - is there an ultralight that won't leave the ground without flap - or is there some other issue ? just curious

    80 kts - could be fiscal 'priority' to There have to be some societies out there that would place no importance on a car or even maybe a house All you have to do is explain to the family that the boss has decided to take on a rental house - for a change - and the all (or some) of the family fortune will be invested in aviation. Planes might not have a gauranteed return - aircraft hangars look like a sure bet though

    re the baloon - what interest me is the 4 extremities either side ............ 8 total - wondering if they might be ballast and valves on the tips (tips I said) for ballast control ? great looking aircraft all the same

    might be all those other things that reflect who you are but I agree with FH's point .............. pilots, ownership or hire, its a group of people, its interaction, getting to know others with an aviation interest .................. thru similar owners, most other aircraft owners or even the local aero club (if there is one)
