  1. thanks - did not think button and switch 2 different things ! - will get L2 to perform the disection
  2. two in gympie queensland at the moment - for hire - 1 a tail wheel - pro sky gympie is the school
  3. Howdy see the attached PTT - they are off a tecnam - someone said RC Allen PTT anyone know where I can buy these - preferably oz ? thanks jm
  4. Farri get your key board - tip it upside down and bash it on the desk (not to hard as some keys tend to pop off) - that'll get all the crap out of the key board - you'd be suprised what lives in there .......................... might fix it ? jm
  5. m.merv - point taken and as said - no offence intended If I had of read your post - I would have read your hourly rate and not posted Keep publicising hourly rates - thats what I reckon In relation to $ 200 hour dual I guess planes cost a lot and the amount of use dictates the charge out rate In relation to $ 200 - that's half an hour in a dentist's chair ................ flying seems more fun, some how
  6. There always seems to be a reluctance to advertise what a school charges - I guess thats business Case in point m.merv had an opporunity to state what his schooll charges ............. but instead lifted his eyebrow at what Gympie charged (no offence m.merv) Mmerv is probably surrounded by 2 million rich mexicans so his hourly rate can be lower In Gympie you can't make much money out of spuds If I ran a school I'd state the hourly rate any opportunity I could get ................... it always suprises me that hourly rates aren't discussed more often JM
  7. I think you can tell if you are flying balanced or not - an instrument sort of confirms it So ianboag we have to assume that both your legs (outer) - those connected to your hips are the same length (left and right shoes are allowed) ............... and balanced flight is achieved I'm with ozzie - I reckon its hydraulics and flow and what liquids do in them there pipes As to fuel management ........................ that's probably what concerns you - you'll need some more fuel taps ? Prior to modification - I'd empty the favoured tank and ground rum it and see what happens - then I'd leave it alone and see if fuel drains to the favoured tank ? JM
  8. GAFA there are 3 flying schools at Gympie and ! ................ you are n't wasting time waiting for a flock of aeroplanes to land ................... so generally downtime is minimal Sealed runway and flushing toilets to !
  9. 'eightyknots said I can see why you soon became a self employed construction consultant. You would have run out of work in your previous job: after all, how many council buildings need to be inspected? ' .................................. - Councils are very easy targets for the tarnished (ripe tomatoes - get your juicy red, over ripe, red tomatoes here) nevertheless .................................. understanding of job description, employee interaction and relationships need some polish
  10. woolstore worker, fencer, scrub cutter, telecom linesman, estates officer, concrete prefab labourer, gorse sprayer, fridge assembler, car detailer, topdressing loader driver, insulation installer, steel spiral pipes labourer, truck driver, fish factory labourer, textile worker, forestry planter, forestry pruner, builders labourer, h & r block tax returns, painters labourer, qualified quantity surveyor, government employee, qualified building surveyor, council building inspector (impressive title) now self employed construction consultant
  11. more litres of fuel ................ for the fire ......... the 2 main ag operators at Wondai are piston powered - one an agwagon (6 cylinder) the other a brave (de-rated 8 cylinder ?) I've talked to both and neither are clowns (you'll have to assume I am not one also) wondai aviaition seems annoyed at what an ag operator did - its probable that the ag operator may also have been annoyed (only guessing) at what the wondai operator may have done (or said, or inferred, oe implied etc) ? both have equal rights to the strip - so i'm sure its got to be a very small storm in a very, very little tea cup
  12. It’s not hard to notice that airline staff has this morbid, dreary fascination for that person (s) who want to smoke a cigarette on board THEIR flight. You’d have to be a simple, single celled creature (they also do use air travel (………..and federal government chauffeured cars)) …………….. not to realise that you can’t smoke in the terminal and likewise in the plane ? With monotony the announcement is always – ‘against civil aviation safety regulation – no smoking in the aircraft – no smoking in the toilet – smoke detector in toilet’ My god a smoke detector in the toilet ! ………….. you just feel like shouting out down the aisle – ‘blast, when did they put a smoke detector in the bloody toilet !’ I guess the airlines have to cater for lowest common denominator ……….. or do they think the gene pool in the back can’t ‘cut it’ with the gene pool in the front I reckon the paternalistic, patronising smoking messages should be dropped or cut back ……………………… there ………… feeling better now JM
  13. Tomo Our loan organisation stated that all finance compoanies are reluctant to loan against anyhing that 'floats, farts ot flies' IF you can get past that criteria - by some other positive - then that's good To me the advice regarding taxation is good advice - if you can derive an income from the plane (toolbox in the back and a D12 engine block in the front) then that wil also help ? jm
  14. Confucius say: ‘If there was no money involved – it would not be so nearly complicated (or time consuming)’
  15. yep Dazza - keep that non smoking going :) I like the way John Laws answers ...................... how did you quit smoking ? ' Simple ........... just stop putting them in your mouth and sucking on the ends of them' A simple philosophy and reminder ........ if you get the urge to smoke them cigarettes :( JM
  16. I'm not much chop at web links but the above web refernce also has an excellent engine additive JM
  17. I'd say the cocktail of alcohol and stimulants made the pilot irrational It was a stupid thing he did - under the circumstances to say he was stupid seems tough Probably was a highly educated person - like all us pilots ?
  18. no avatar because its not a perfect world jm
  19. I got the old weight and balance letter - RAA wanted the manufacturers calculation I scanned that, also the C of A for good measure - emailed to RAA ...................... waited < than a day - cleared to fly - good efficient service. Better your licensor saying something than ....................... nothing No worries - its a mistake on some ones part - no big deal - I want that paperwork in order ....................... if say I had to validate a claim
  20. Nevertheless its still good we can talk about this incident - the subject IS sensitive ........................... judging by all the posts and views on the subject. Talking and reading about such things must be helpful ......... and be a learning process in itself Any thing relevant we say will no doubt be in the ATSB report - otherwise the report may / could be deficient (and no doubt ............................. all that will be discussed again in this forum .................... with the final report) I'd like to ask - 'judging by the photo of the ferris wheel I'd give it the ferris wheel a 10000 radius and say a 20000 diameter - that equates to about say a Maximum 60 - 70 feet. In relation to the the strip - was the ferris wheel on high or low ground ?' Have not heard this fact discussed JM
  21. put a couple of extra on or take some merlons off - if it helps :)
  22. Yep Guernsey - I can see what you are incinerating there That word castigating came from fresh air ! JM
  23. a roughy attached a good thick hunk of hollow round steel the engineering shop I used is gone out of business - recommend you take a photo and dimnsion that ? jm tecnam castigated.pdf tecnam castigated.pdf tecnam castigated.pdf
  24. great photo's - particularly the human fly on the low flying DC8 fueslage (never seen that) that low flying is a no no ................................. but there certainly is a fasination about it ! JM
  25. good summary and interesting view point facthunter your reference 'to the bottle' .................... its probably hard to generalise, but - is 'the bottle' because of the danger (stress) or because of the day to day chore (repetition)? do you think might not be an answerable question I think I can see a bit of of that lifestyle in ag pilots (the danger or chore and 'the bottle'........................ I've never actually thought about)
