  1. is it the difference of the experienced and non-experienced - that we speak of ................... those pilots that collect wires the non experienced might be at shorter odds to collect a wire, but I think its because of the complacency of a pilot - irrespective of experience from the wire strikes I have read ............. wire strike pilots never even thought of 'wire' till it happened wonder what the human factor's scenario / question that covers this ? (no thought - to a danger that is camouflaged - disregarding any issue about flying below 500 ft .............. or between towers / ridge lines etc)
  2. .. dust is mud (with all the water squeezed out) (aeroplanes can get dusty and muddy)
  3. keep us posted turbo any other 100 hectare allotments close to Melbourne going for $ 100,000 ............... can you let us know please (that is if JCW and Co don't now about it) QUOTE 'landowners enjoy from simply waiting for a council decision and the stroke of a minister’s pen. He has called for the introduction of a costly “licence”' how would that licence work - at purchase how could a purchaser contribute to 'infrastructure' if it could was 20, 30, 40 years before it could be subdivided to create valuable land ?
  4. Psychic thoughts .......................... : If it were n't for electricity we'd all be watching television in the dark

  6. tell us more Yenn - or someone can you do a ruff calculation for us ?
  7. the old boy was a topdressing pilot and he died first. the old girl kept his ashes and when she died we organised to have the 2 containers placed in a topdressing plane and have them spread on some local hills prior, after some phone organisation we left the containers at the local topdressing pilots house (who knew the olds) (with numerous bottles of wine and beer and perhaps cash) ................. I never verified what actually did happen but believe it to be true - that's all that matters
  8. sometimes peoples should put Keentor, FH, Turbo in post ............ so you can tell which comment is addressed to who
  9. low more than slow ! be good to hear some data on wire strike - the span, weight and strength of power cables are more than a match for most aircraft
  10. thank you Bex - your patent certificate has been posted tomorrow
  11. avgas and mogas - credit card toilets clubhouse - coffee (and stronger liquids) - food - honesty box aircraft painter - L2 and lame

  14. with all that money being dished out - i hope judge sent lady to a basic mechanics course
  15. The Qld premier / government are now making noises about Qld having a fire fighting 737 too ! Whether a good idea or not - we trust that appropriate benefit analysis ? will dictate what aircraft are purchased
  16. This site has a long road to run Ian - thanks to your enthusiasm . servitude, perseverance ......................... I doubt there will ever be an end if you allow to keep it all going I'd say a fair few of us read intently all that is posted - with limited knowledge on most of the subjects, for me, its just as best to let the informed decide and go with the majority vote
  17. what about the line trimmers and mowers that start up after lunch ............................ right at / during siesta time - oh for a house at antarctica (no neighbours)
  18. I've read an accident report somewhere that 'thistles' and other vegetation clogged a low wing aileron horn balance and caused the plane to roll and prang ............. found vegetation from a deviation from the runway ................. low wing ............. you'd have to try a lot harder in a high wing
  19. laminar wings and icing ........ just read about that other day - ATR so hope its seen as on subject
  20. it was his first landing solo ................ that;s what really matters
  21. that pilot john walton in the video said he wanted ........................ '50 cents an acre and a house by the beach' was that 18.28 mill or bill onetrack ?
  22. interesting to know how a big 737 (15000 litres water) competes with a AT802 (3000 litres water) - nice to know - the 737 certainly has more bling ! looks like a 737 is about $ 100 million and a AT 802 about $ 4 million
  23. I'll bet you $ 50 dollars this 737 (or any) does not scoop water - its a full stop landing for refill
  24. a tough lesson to all concerned - my sympathies since no one has suggested our conjectures are ..................... the PAL thingy is the remote activated lights on the runway ? wonder why the plane 1 that landed first ? could not reactivate lights for plane 2 - or could PAL be overwhelmed by requests Can you activate PAL when on the ground ?
