  1. Plenty of civilian pilots have earned their wings the same as Military ones do. All collectable Motor cycle clubs have Badges as well as Aero clubs. With the metal ones it's better to take in to account the ease of enamelling the design from the outset. Nev
  2. It's ONLY a PUNY PUN. Nev
  3. With the POOR power to weight ratio it would be lucky to fly on BOTH engines and unstick let alone fly on one. (2500 lbs on 100 HP) and no feathering. Pull the other leg. Nev
  4. I guess they see it as a window of opportunity. Nev
  5. Original engine derived from a Henderson Motorcycle engine. Nev
  6. A bit of adrenalin helps when you do it and things get a bit more stressful. Night flying is much more of a trap. Circadian rhythm. The effort is much less than with a truck.. Nev.
  7. Not likely. Nev
  8. Now we are qualifying it. It's legal and if conditions are good it's very pleasurable. and there's very little effort in the actual flying.. Proper planning helps. On some other days you shouldn't fly at all.. Nev
  9. Not worth the risk. It's easy to check. I'm pretty sure there's a big penalty for falsifying records. Nev
  10. Modern cars have so much performance and Isolate you from the reality of going too fast for the conditions prevailing. If you are driving badly you will be having close calls and annoying others. The signs will be there. Keep more distance between you and the car in front especially at higher speeds..Nev
  11. Quite a few people are NEVER GOOD drivers and some have the wrong temperament. Take more care and drive like you are being tested al the time. Nev
  12. None pilot doesn't mean you are a non pilot. Nev
  13. Just found this. Thanks people, for all your kind wishes. Lots of exercises needed with a bit of associated pain. From all reports It's going well.. Nev
  14. Good it anyone makes them really. . Nev
  15. THEY do have a name for it (Being whingey) CASA say, we're not happy till you're not happy. Nev
  16. They are lovely things. Nev
  17. You'd be flat out keeping the engine cool on a long taxi. Nev
  18. It's a safe and easy plane to get in and out of . Nev
  19. Till You get Vmc(a) you have 2 times the chance of losing directional control due engine power loss. It's a reduce power on the other side quickly.. The RAAF sometimes took off on short fields based on stall speed only but it's far from a standard operation. AT Vmc(a) you need FULL rudder to stop Yaw.. Not easy to pull a wing off a DC3 unless you hit the ground with it. They made well over 10,000 of them.. Nev
  20. Can't see why the 3 would be easier in any way. Vmc (a) is well above stall speed. Nev
  21. A Beaver on one engine flys better than a DC 3 on one engine. . . Nev
  22. Do a proper W&B check. . Don't just believe what your read. "somewhere". with Weight & Balance. Emphasis on the "balance". Nev
  23. Doubt it would fly well on one at any weight. Draggy as all get out. Nev
  24. Datum point s are fairly arbitrary. Easier to understand if you use range of mean aerodynamic chord Tail heavy is very risky often compounded by shielding of RUDDER and short tail moment arms and mass distribution lengthwise. Ie weights on engine or tail. and small area tailfeathers. Nev
