  1. There's a big difference between "FLYING" and the other activities you always relate to. ATSB only INVESTIGATE INCIDENTS/ACCIDENTS and are an INDEPENDENT BODY with the requisite Authority. So are the POLICE. CASA and RAAus are NOT. Nev
  2. Check your torque wrench frequently. Any over-torqued bolt or stud must be replaced. . Nev
  3. ACE of the Base types Now have "Pocket rocket". nev
  4. Open ended spanners are no use for high Torquing figures. Nev
  5. It's possible to get a "Permit to fly" under some conditions. Nev
  6. Why use SILLY terms like "Not Emotionally Invested"? There's not much NEW technology in a Rotax. More of a different approach. Part water cooled. Pressed up crankshaft. Weird oil return system Awful carburettors in a bad position, Expensive Bit's. Nev
  7. There's some real rubbish that comes out of India. Some of it is made in atrocious conditions in very underprivileged and unregulated areas. The Enfield factory is clean and modern and could probably turn out a fair product. At the moment the Performances are about PAR for a 1960 model Brit bike. They are Cheap here and cheap parts. Not for ME. Some China stuff looks as good as anything else does. They MASS produce really cheaply when they MAKE 10000's
  8. Their English is better than My Mandarin. Nev
  9. US gallons are little ones as are the quarts. Nev
  10. Offset of the bores doesn't stop piston clatter Only offset gudgeon pins do Then there a force greater on one side to tilt the Piston. The "W' slot piston causes the crown to run much hotter than it otherwise would. risking detonation.. Nev
  11. Duel Tank? Them's fighting words. Nev
  12. Look UP de Saxxe Principle. The offset is to stop piston rock and simulate de saxxe and at the same time reduce the Load on the thrust face of the Piston on the Power stroke. In my view those pistons are CRAP and are not suited for an aero engine as they are "W" slotted. They are the MAX oversize of a VN commodore. Reversing the Pistons will affect the Ignition timing. Nev
  13. It's NOT worth it. Nev
  14. If you are the sort of person that Panics get another hobby and save money and time. Flying is not forgiving enough for you. Nev
  15. The thread starter HERE Is "VFR into IMC".. Good subject for consideration and an opportunity to LEARN. Nev
  16. RAAus DID HF for everybody. CASA directed. Wasn't handled well. Plenty of crusty old Barstewards thought it was BS. Needs to be a constant up dated thing. CASA didn't want it considered in Investigations though (Guess why) Insurance companies gave credits for it.(Wisely) Another failed opportunity. Nev
  17. I don't think "Mr Cessna" would suggest it's use in other than "certain" Cessna's either. ( Liability) Instant IMC would be very rare. There's usually plenty of warning Also Under the hood (without cheating) is a very good way (SAFE , LEGAL & Accepted) to train for the IMC situation . Nev
  18. It's informative to look up what the Purpose of a Coronial Inquest is. It's quite specific. Also what qualifications a Coroner must have. Nev
  19. You won't achieve Justice often and perhaps not even the proper application of the LAW. The Richest Lawyers work for the CROOKS. Nev
  20. Coronial Inquests are NOT places where people should be, or have to be, using Lawyers Nev
  21. Who is a LEGAL Expert? The rest are uselessly speculating. The recent CBUS case (political) Just FINED the "Organisation " Millions of dollars". That was MEMBERS FUNDS. . RAAus should have Indemnity insurance for their Officers of some kind. No one in their right mind would do the Job without it . The Coroner is involved when some one dies to look into the cause of the death. That was the plane losing control and descending at a high Vertical speed probably due to Icing and spatial disorientation. No one forced the Pilot to fly that day. Coroners are often not full bottle on aircraft or medical etc. One said Motorbikes would be safer IF they didn't lean over so much. Nev
  22. Engine vibration is destructive also. All these senders are quite Unreliable. It's a harsh environment for them Nev
  23. Was that Helpful? It's not too big a hope that Members do feel they have a stake in the RAAus continuing to exist. . IF it doesn't what's next? Warbirds are in a similar position regarding the extent of possible liability. IF it's too high It's just NOT affordable, by Normal people. Nev
