  11. I'm pretty certain there are various models on the bike. When that happens they often make a few different gaskets to cover all the possibilities. The needle is modified on the aero one to make it (sort of) altitude responsive in mixture. I don't like the Carb that much. and wouldn't take chances. It's ON an AEROPLANE. Nev
  12. A cheap simulator is going to be of limited value beyond getting the Procedures right. Without "MOTION" you can play with it but there's no "feel" and you can "Play" the simulator with practice, same as any game.. Anyhow this thread is primarily about visibility in turns , is it not?   20. It's not really worth arguing this one out. Your rate of survival in the case of a plane is low. With a helicopter at night it's miniscule. Any fool can drive a car and you can stop without falling fatally fast . and there's lot's of cars compared to planes. Nev
  21. The Rotax ULS is not particularly fuel efficient. Put a sender against the gearbox and have a listen to it in flight. Flat 4's have torsional vibrations to handle that are pretty bad.. Some engines have dynamic balancing. . Many have" don't use" RPM settings You don't want flexible pipes and hoses everywhere. if it can be avoided. You are entitled to use what you choose, but it would be better if you weren't so condemnatory and insulting of people with a contrary view.. Nev
  22. The Wacket was grounded sometime in the 60s, because of failure of the casein glue used in the wing. The Warner Super Scarab Radial was used and was underpowered but was all that could be supplied at the time.. I think Newcastle had two but the suspect wing deterred me from flying one. The Wirraway become the cropduster/sprayer of choice at the time with a version called the "Ceres" Being developed. There were some Edgar Percival's EP9 with Avro Anson motors fitted about also. Nev
  23. Some are buried with Live ammo etc to discourage retrieval. Buried stuff won't be in that good condition. Nev
  24. Having ailerons on all mainplanes would be an advantage as well as Brakes When brakes are fitted to the DH82 you have to move the wheels further forward which makes them LESS nice directionally. Canadian built ones had them as well as an enclosed sliding cockpit. and a tailwheel. . Nev
