  1. Who knows where the CofG point of their engine is. It's essential when you calculate it's moment. Same with pilot's and Pax weights When It's all together you should Have a Basic wt and moment (index)on your loadsheet where you start from. Nev
  2. Put it this way. They can only get better. I had PLENTY to do with them and I know of lot's of others, I won't elaborate as Turbo may call Me a CASA Hater again and I might get into trouble. Nev
  3. It's the Method Airlines used and I find it the most foolproof. Of Course nothings foolproof. if planes take off on another shorter runway, or put on extra fuel for weather and it doesn't show on the Loadsheet.. Nev
  4. IF you have LONG lockers have a way of securing the cargo so it cannot move in flight, Nev
  5. You get the stElmos before the lightning. Ona DC4 there was a white light going forward of Both wingtips, then BAM, ball lightning everywhere. Didn't seem to do much other than scare $#1t out of us and temporary Blindness... Between Darwin and East Timor the monsoon clouds looked like a wall of green Ice going to about 60,000 feet. That was on the F-27. QF 1308.. Nev
  6. Who's filling in their suggestions for radio procedures changes? Don't complain if you don't bother. Nev
  7. The real old types are ICAN and the Later ones ICAO. I ALWAYS carried a WHITE plastic one that would fit in my shirt pocket. You use it to work out and check all sorts of things. Nev
  8. Does the Airbox move with the engine?. IF it doesn't you will need great flexibility as the distance is short That means neoprene and maybe go to a bigger diameter if flow concerns you. Use bellows type. Nev
  9. Your CofG varies and Something for from it will have a bigger effect at moving it it, Extra weight AT the CofG will not alter it. Anything ALTERED in the allowable CofG range won't take it Out of the allowable range. For ANY Particular gross wt the Moments added up must be withing 2 figures (aft and fwd) already worked out. There is ALSO a Graphical way of doing all this. I drew up one for the Citabria. That way you can put compartment limits on the chart.. It will show TO Wt . Wt for intended landing and a ZERO fuel wt and CofG and for the other fuel wts as well. Look at examples and work through each, till it makes sense. W&B is a 100%pass exam as is fuel management. nev
  10. Rough inner surface WILL affect flow. There was a laminated aluminium and cardboard product available for Auto use which is durable and heat proof you might try. Easily bent to a semi permanent shape. Nev
  11. I had already given you a "LIKE" I was wondering IF my posts are in "invisible" ink. Nev
  12. Depends on the diameter. It stands to reason it won't bend as easily as the other. Nev
  13. I said the two posts back. It's the "normal" way to do it. Nev
  14. Why did you expect it to? IF it did it would not do the Job. Thats also why it won't bend so easily. Maybe required bends may be done to order, as it is with rubber. It's an entirely different product
  15. DEAD has no relevance. I think they don't know the Meaning.. Nev
  16. Left it a Bit too late Brendon. I have a mate who would be the best instructor ever. Bit Maintenance intensive and VERY expensive in the bigger sizes. That was what some called them in PNG . I also feel safer in 3 axis fixed wing. Nev
  17. Just weigh the nosewheel and you will get a pretty good idea. IF you also do the others you can get it real close ( for your own purposes) Nev
  18. I think the process has become a lot more complex. Did the plans suggest a CofG to expect? if so keep track of the Variations and apply them (Wt change x Distance) for balance and add or subtract for Basic wt . Nev
  19. You will remember what you use regularly and look up the rest If you require it. It says DEAD reckoning I knew it as DR . Deduced. Note Z (ZULU) used in Met. Messages for those who didn't see it as current recently. Nev
  20. You have to cut the wire in both instances. Do it FIRST and then mark where to cut the rest. Allow a bit extra to fiddle if you are not confident of getting it square . The "lined" one won't concertina like the other or be able to bend as well. Nev
  21. If you have it at the front or even before it you get no negatives. which reduces the likelihood of error. The result has to fall within a stipulated range to be acceptable. Nev
  22. When I flew through cyclone KEN No aerodromes were closed It would depend on Local circumstances. Power outages debris on runways etc. I didn't get any turbulence Just a bit of St Elmos at the edges of the windows. Nev
  23. That's what in flight weather radar is for and each pilot makes their own assessment. . Nev
  24. Pilots make the decision to divert due weather en route except in the case of an aerodrome being declared closed. Nev
