  1. They don't do you any good either or guarantee no heart problems going forward. Nev
  2. Genuine Factory approved Parts carry a warrantee and an assurance that it meets OEM standards . Just any aftermarket No name, is lucky to fit with no comeback. Some Brand names like Koni or Bilstein Brembo may be better than original There would be oil filter brands that can be relied on and SOME may even be superior to original, but plenty I would NOT fit if they were free. Especially on an aeroplane. ,IF the fit of the thread on the nipple is not good, check why.
  3. I know of a bloke who was too fat and did it by injecting adrenalin to het the Pulse rate up ATPL. Nev
  4. IT would NOT be a GENUINE FORD "Motorcraft" hose for sure. Do you believe every thing you ,read Turbs? nev
  5. They are not stress rated for much more, nor are airliners. IF you hit turbulence at the same time it's additive. 60 is 2 G that's safe in still air Goa bit more and it increases faster per degree. ..Nev
  6. PEACE of Mind it is.. I know a bloke who doesn't do checklists either and he's done 4 circuits without any problems. Nev
  7. Airliners can't exceed 30 degrees these days without having to answer for it. The load when banked depends on the AoA of the wing and Airspeed. The AoA is controlled by the Elevators. I'd consider above 50 degrees steep if I had to pick a figure. A well executed barrel roll wouldn't pull excessive "G" or spill a cup of coffee. Nev
  8. Maybe,. Used copper washers go hard and they Have to fit the "stem" snugly so as to sit in the same position laterally or it may not seal well. New exactly correct one each time? Nev
  9. They only collect steel Particles. It should not keep happening . The magnets are good as indicators of WEAR of CERTAIN parts. and also remove the particles from circulation Nev
  10. I would not like to see it keep shedding steel. Keep checking it. The oil is doing a big job in there. Nev
  11. Never use fibre It can crack. Having nothing is quite safe. It's aluminium you are seating on. (As long as the thread is true to the shoulder and that's easily checked). Nev
  12. Metal to metal is better IF it's tapered. at the seat.. Spark plugs have a single use compressible sealing washer with a torque figure. "Trapped" "O" rings are OK Don't require much torque and can't move and fail.. It has to be fail safe.. Nev
  13. Best way to loosen them is to get a Brass drift with good flat ends and give it one good hit/tap straight on with an engineers hammer.. Most people over tighten these things,. (Butchers) Nev
  14. That is not always possible. The rate at which Decalin is added is small, 1 ounce /10 us gallons. It's essentially a solvent. Nev
  15. Valuable to indicate wear is happening.. You shouldn't have difficulty if it's not overtightened That type is in pretty common use these days. Nev
  16. IF you have your X country you can go anywhere. IF you've been checked on ANY Tailwheel plane and it's signed off you can fly any other tailwheel without any more paperwork.. It might be prudent to be cautious if the new plane is a bit Tricky or you haven't a lot of tailwheel time and a bit rusty. Nev
  17. Nicely on topic. Kero tractors are the same as petrol ones but with lower compression and often chromed bores and an extra heating type Inlet manifold. to vapourise the Kero. They therefore give considerably less power and only made sense where kero was cheap. They commonly suffered from Oil dilution as well rendering the oil too thin and requiring replacement. Nev
  18. You are off on a tangent , spacey. Do you know what adverse aileron effect is? Even IF you DO, SOME don't. Normal ailerons are Markedly DIFFERENTIAL or even FRISE. It's demonstrated competency with all of these "endorsements" IF you're an Ace of the Base you sail through. Nev
  19. space "Fuel for my Plane". Nev
  20. Some of those early unleaded fuels were dreadful . One of them left everything with a PINK colour. Valve seats recessed. nev
  21. Look I've seem them on Motorcycles (off road)and a lot of Plastic stuff is going very brittle with age.. Often sunlight is part of it. I'd like to see what is often done to race car tanks where they are pretty crash resistant. Nev
  22. A lot (most ) small low landing speed planes have flaperons but adverse yaw is more present with this type of lift enhancing fitment. Larger fin and rudder is fitted than other wise would be the case. If you are a rudder active pilot you will not notice it that much. Some pilots MAY not be aware of this. Anticipation is better than reacting to it . SLOW planes don't like gusting conditions.. Nev
  23. No plastic Tank in a motor car resembles that type to my Knowledge. I've seen similar on some Motorcycles but they definitely have a limited life. Nev
