  1. Great at highspeed . Not much at slow speed. Nev
  2. What about maintaining the visibility forward? Ceiling is cloud base. Used when taking off in conjunction with RVR. (Runway visual range) forward of the aircraft. Nev
  3. Using facts. That could be a good idea. Nev
  4. So now groundspeed is not important when planning fuel etc??? Nev
  5. What units would you use for altitude? 1.000 feet is about the right size . Nev
  6. A lot of it grew out of marketing produce but at least a foot is about a foot long... I have to work in both every day making stuff. Nev
  7. RED lights? IF you obey them there's a good chance the person behind will tail end you. Nev
  8. Kgs to Lbs is dead easy. Add 10% and double it. Nev
  9. Keeping wings level is more easily achieved. When you end a turn you think you are turning in the opposite direction.. You have to absolutely TRUST the instruments or you're gone. An autopilot doesn't know when it's in cloud , but you must know where the rocks are. Nev
  10. Wonder how it would handle a flock of birds and weird winds. . IF life is cheap, why not? Nev
  11. Groundspeed x time equals distance covered.. (to put it another way.) Nev
  12. Turbs, your info would only apply in still air. Distance / GROUNDSPED = time. Nev
  13. It's about OTHER points of view to yours and you run your line incessantly, skippy.
  14. The spiral is the usual way of going in. Nev
  15. I didn't make it to get a response. It's not all about MPG. Some of my most enjoyed trips were in a tiger moth at 78 Knots. Nev
  16. You feel the bumps more at higher speeds. Just fly lower and it seems fast. Nev
  17. Canberra Goulburn Crookwell area is not much for weather.. Nev
  18. I suggest corrugated sheet steel as a minimum.... Nev
  19. Good for landing into the sunset (if you must) Have the seat set lower. You mustn't hit your head in turbulence with the seat belt tight. Nev
  20. I don't recall it having anything to do with metric conversion. 1,000 feet is a good sized vertical distance separation. THAT makes other units clumsy. Nautical miles relates to Knots easily and distances in metres.. Russia uses Metres for height.. Nev
  21. THEY are defined as they should be. It's just a matter of getting it right. Nev
  22. I don't come here for the amusement of you to be shot down in flames for fun. Your last response is not helpful either. This place is a hostile environment for SERIOUS discussion and there couldn't be anything much more serious than the subject we are discussing. Just realise what you are doing. Most like me have left.. There's a time for humour but it's NOT all the time. You know I'm a safety nut above all else. Nev
  23. Corrosion Inhibited is the term. Running it now and then can be "helping " it to corrode. It takes about 40 minutes air time to get a motor to a stable operating temp. Nev
