  1. Nah Pud," baked bean"- fills you with air, farts then soil yourself - sound like a jab to me( only joking all, remember I had one!), LIke Fanta Can though.......Orange and Aluminum and fantastic to boot.
  2. I'll be there Ryan- I 'll come and say hello...
  3. We rocked up on Grannard rd about a k away and my mate said "that looks like your plane in cct"- sure was! "Jaffa" is the the name now.
  4. Savannah 8020 is born! Flown home this afternoon in the beautiful Savannah "S" smooth air to its new training home at Caboolture. Reg is an absolute legend and everything was on time, as promised and professional. His Aerokits business is stand out IMHO.
  5. I did the ATC 30 yrs ago and fluncked terribly- too muh multi tasking stress for a 18 yo then. Passed the fallback FIS exam and interviews but went elsewhere in my employment. I take my hat off to them all....
  6. My reply to all moderated out. No further comment, let Darwin not CASA be the final arbitrator
  7. Ahhhh we live in the age of innocence and excuse, magnified by the moly codling of an over tolerant generation, more inclined to dismiss and dilute rather than discipline and punish.... All of us left to opine and judge but not act to resolve or improve. Such the lot of an affluent generation not forced to face the pain of reality in life's firm but fair natural path. Right on turbo.
  8. Word's fail me but the investigation won't.....what is it with the holiday season and peoples brain's going on holidays?
  9. Experience, expectation and ego- too many "e"s...... there are no "e"s in aviation and the only ones worth noting is only after Evaluation... what a pilot does right in the here and now is way more important than all the things he's done or intends to do. It's a subtle art sitting there knowing what's in the logbook and seeing it bought into the cockpit.
  10. To all forumites- may your wings be blessed with airflow, may your judgement be endowed with the wisdom of Solomon, may your skies be blue and your horizons far and please enjoy the company of your families at this special time. All the best to everyone in 2012 and many thanks to Ian and all the staff and helpers, and contributors that keep this great site alive and well. Merry Christmas & a safe and substantial 2012
  11. Sure did Wins, Reg will fit up the baffles pre-delivery- It might be an 80 knotter but I got fuel to burn...!
  12. Short Seinhaesser, Brunnette Bose or Long Lightspeed?
  13. I wanta watch for Christmas:roflmao:
  14. Probably on the same boat mate- Yep, that's the port date. I guess I should be flying it away around mid month or a little earlier. It's been so long now I'm not getting too excited, anyway by the sounds of that rain outside it might be better floating on the boat. The only thing going up faster than the euro exchange rate at the moment is my rain tank.
  15. I flew for years off Tamborine in HG's and the tourist buses would love to pull up and unload the inquisitive hoards and block our path across the road. And the No1 Question on the hit parade??? "What happens if the wind stops!!"
  16. Right on Brother!
  17. Mine stops being a cross continent float plane on the 3rd January- Santa obviously doesnt have to clear customs but Savannah's do. I saw Rick's Sav at YCAB the other day- nice and purposeful.
  18. Now did I hear that some chinese parts were being sourced some time ago .......?
  19. Trike flying at Sunrise...I was up at the same time this morning with a converting PPL doing ccts, he is thoroughly enjoying his training and says it is the best flying he has done in years. Hope the rain doesn't spoil all our Christmas fun Weight shift wins- fly the wing....
  20. This afternoon I watched a VFR rated fixed wing pilot land then later leave again in absolute minimum VMC even after offering him a lift or lodgings for the night. We had earlier abandoned even the thought of circuit training or any flying and spoke to a helicopter at the same time on radio at 300' tracking north by highway nav, who was already at his minima.Fortunately the pilot in question made it to his home base and even he said later " he would never ever do that again". Keeping the plane on the ground is easy, keeping the pilot grounded, in his decisions is the hard part.
  21. One comment: 1.3-1.5 Vs on approach and rudders for directional control at low speed. Try picking it up with aileron at low speed at your own peril....
  22. Mother nature knows nothing of equality - love the line ' "Working with an element you can't control"- so you just work with it , don't try to control it"... no truer words spoken in aviation. Good one Tomo- Merry Christmas!
  23. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link..... good news! good to see it speedily back in the air mate, Merry Christmas
  24. Years ago when I was a rep for HGFA on RAPAC, I arranged a visit for a bunch of Hangies to Eagle Farm( Bris), they were amazed at the good nature of all the controllers, and yes, the same simple sophistication. The idea was to help curb VCA's , but it did a lot more in time and every pilot should do this at some stage- there just normal( great) people doing a hard job trying to keep us all safe up there.
