  1. I'm going Mark, and I would prefer a room too!- I do snore louder than a pratt& Whitney I am told!!!
  2. G'day Leigh, the change came about due to the state govt. changing the labour day weekend from May to October to align with NSW. This was the prime reason. The change to the weekend following Anzac will sometimes mean no long weekend, and as a result the dinner has shifted to the Saturday night which I and many believe is a better move. My experience is most pilots will do the fly in Saturday - home Sunday style fly in and this means better for pilots and the attendance at the dinner. As a Side bar this now also doesn't conflict with Childers which is on this coming weekend, and it is proving to be another exceptional fly in in the Sth East.Perhaps you can make this or "Wings of Life" RFDS charity fly in is also on this coming weekend at Archer Falls( Ron Fields) at Nuerum creek at the base of Mt Archer, 25 K west of Caboolture. In any case next years Inglewood will be 25-27 April 2014 and this will coincide with a long weekend, with much planning already underway, with the focus on safe fun flying and giving back to the local Inglewood community. Hope to see you and many others there. Cheers Ballpoint.
  3. What a fantastic weekend!! A real fly in with the awesome community of Inglewood 100% behind sport aviation. The local community groups of Lions, Rural Fire Service and the countless volunteers. Thank you to all pilots who attended and chipped in and recognised this support at last nights dinner, the fundraiser was extremely well received by the locals who only want to make the flyin better for us! No issues, lots of flying and heaps of smiles and tall stories, and the earlier weekend beats the winter chill....Even better plans next year and a fitting weekend to commemorate the legend, Wayne, we all took a moment for you last night mate. BE THEREFOR INGLEWOOD 2014. Enquireis via PM please, Neil.
  4. Ill be up there soon mate!
  5. "When the weight of the paperwork equals the weight of the aircraft you are clear to takeoff"

They are based at Lethbridge north of Geelong and Michael his brother looks after the Pioneer aircraft side of things which they are also importers for. 11. faced with the impending visuals it was decided to stoke the coals at 500 ft AGL to avoid the nastily image looming.....
  12. Just had to post this funny flight with a student on Saturday. While out in the local training area practicing PFLs , I was checking the students selection criteria and assessment of a gravel road for an emergency landing spot, he was unsure so we went through the six S's and gave it a go..... On final we noticed a person walking up the road, as we descended to minimum height it became apparent that the gentlemen was butt naked!, just out for a leisurely stroll in the morning sun. I was laughing so hard we almost forgot to climb out. I really wanted to use the subject line on the student - but thought the ensuing hysterics may have been too much for both of us! Every day offers up something different- today was no exception, turns out there is a nudist commune up the road so this guy was probably enjoying his walk "au naturale"until we descended down. We now have another S to add- STARKERS! And that's the naked truth....
  13. I only did one landing in it and Peter advised a full flare for a good 3 pointer, I found the whole thing very controlled with no tendency to over sink or loose aileron or rudder authority, it's a very solid plane and the landing was uneventful, I did a small bounce but the whole thing was rock solid and just settled to ground. It would be my build choice hands down and the only question I have on the SuperStol wing is what measures ensure one slat couldn't jam relative to the other creating a potential control problem.
  14. The standard Highlander has been around about 6 years now as a kit, the Superstol is just a further development of the "avid" theme for those who want extra rugged in their flying, the basic dimensions and design are the same, you can even upgrade a std Highlander to SuperStol spec if you want at a later date. My research shows that std Highlander builder empty weights are around 275-290 kgs depending on undercarriage configuration and wheel size, and size of fuel cells( they are all kit options). Performance numbers are similar to Savannah 35 kt stall and 95-100kt cruise, slightly faster. I believe MTOW as ESLSA is 600kg.
  15. Thanks mark, will be keen to hear the outcome
  16. A man- his airplane and endless skies to the horizon, does it get any better? Fly high fly safe and don't high - land- her!!
  17. Booked into the pub, I and 6 other in trikes are all there- yeehah!!
  18. Well done GForce, you got my girl, look after her please....
  19. Yep that's what not to do! The rule is DONT persist - do 1 loaded gun - do 2 in the p.., go for seconds damage beckons.
  20. There's apparently a delay in getting plastic for cards as well, must be going to plastic surgery to improve the look of the board. They'll need lots!
  21. We teach conversions in this aircraft and part of the type brief is 1 bounce allowed 2 and go around( just like a tail dragger), the SW has a short tail moment and it will become divergent very quickly as the elevator runs out of effectiveness. The LS and MC versions are much more benign , but as other have said, pilots should not think the nose wheel should be part of the landing process, it is particularly vulnerable in most if not all tricycle ultralight aircraft.
  22. Mate great to hear your voice back in the air today- I went to test it today but forgot the kHz bit, old timers kicking in, sorry I missed you, been making the most of the mornings before the storms roll through. Great again to watch big red climb out with the best radio bloke in the business at the controls. got my xpdr cable today so squawking soon. Remember Inglewood next weekend.....
  23. Can't recall now may have been, there are always lots at Inglewood.
  24. One last point UNICOM is a discrete frequency, normally allocated for an event or location with discrete information provided at that airfield. MULTICOM is an assigned CTAF frequency to be used for any CTAF are that doesn't have it's own CTAF allocated by AirServices.
