  1. Wow NT5224 Well Done!! You and your wife seriously did good! Thank you for sharing this with us. We can all always learn.
  2. Obstacle fixation is a term I'm familiar with. When you think I must avoid xyz, and find yourself steering towards xyz ...
  3. I use multifocal 30 day contacts. Let' m re fine print, and let' me see distance clearly as well. Much better peripheral vision that I had with glasses.
  4. Bought my RV-6A in Jandakot some years back. No shade and by the time we got the plane back to Moorabbin I felt like a pickled lobster. First thing I did when we got back was order a Koger Sunshade. My partner's RV-9A started flying in May this year and by the time we finished the test flying the sunshade was on it's way ....
  5. You weren't whinging. I think the reason moorabbin students are going elsewhere for circuits are the lengthy start up delays. And that was before the current lighting maintenance Ian crane issues seeing some YMMB runways closed.
  6. Just saw this on the RAA website under Accident and Defect Summaries: 5/12/2017 Ballina Airport QLD Eurofox 3K Rotax 912 ULS A pilot conducted flight, YBAF to YBNA, which is security controlled with RPT operations, without va... A pilot conducted flight, YBAF to YBNA, which is security controlled with RPT operations, without valid ASIC card.
  7. We were specifically told no second person for test flying when we gained the CofA in May. The CofA was specific as to who the test pilots were, and that only one person on board during the testing phase.
  8. For many of us 7 aircraft in the circuit is considered busy. Particularly as that is 7 aircraft for one runway .. kind of equates to 21 in the circuit with 3 runways. And yes no issues with parallel ones and people straying but it's still busy. So please ...
  9. Last night at the AvSafety Seminar the AirServices rep showed a slide showing an average of only 2 aircraft per day going through the lane between 2000' and 2500' during the month the stats were based on. I found this amazing. Later on I realised I hadn't taken note of which month. If it was winter I guess there would be reduced traffic at that height. But think that over a 12 month period the statistics might show more than 2 per day ...
  10. Local member for Bald Eagle does methinks.
  11. Ditto .. gave you a big headstart methinks :)
  12. Yep, that was me. Realised as I flew past West Sale that it was probably you in the Tecnam. Lovely flight home, whilst he had a long drive home ...
  13. Umm off topic but .. Alf were you in Bairnsdale on Sunday?
  14. I'll second the AvPlan recommendation. The new GAF implementation looks great.
  15. Geoff, I think you're spot on.
  16. oh well ... moving right along ....
  17. We had a great time. Caught up with old friends. Made new ones. Food and coffee in the Gliding Club and Aero Club was great and great value. Ditto for the Fish n Chip guy selling from the tent between the Clubs and the Main Marquee. Didn't try any of the others but didn't hear any complaints. Our aircraft was parked in the allocated SAAA display area behind their hangar. Unfortunately also behind a big fence that separated it from the main airshow. Fence went up on Wednesday morning with some aircraft inside it that needed to get out. Some outside that needed to get in. And we were told it would be up till Wednesday. We were planning on leaving on Sunday so a bit confused ... Fortunately fence was taken down on Sunday. Meant we left a bit later than planned but it all worked out okay. Fence effectively isolated the SAAA hangar from the airshow which seemed a bit sad. But part of the overall 'security' or something. Generator next to Seminar Marquee all but drowned out the speakers which was a bit sad. Also the raised floor of the seminar tent was a real trip hazard. Saw/heard several people fall as they entered. Still I'm sure this is all part of the learning curve for the organisers.
  18. HI Alf, not YBNS but flying in to YLTV today in the RV-9A :)
  19. Are the responders holding up blankets to stop aerial photos of the pilot? If so, how sad that they need to do this and that there isn't a tad more respect and restraint out there.
  20. I'll never understand how this site works. djpacro's post got a caution from Geoff_H. Why? Or was it a slip of the digit on a smart phone?
  21. Really? I did my AFR, GA bi-annual I think, recently. And the same as all the previous ones no one asked to see my AVID or ASIC.
  22. and my next question is .. is the following correct?
  23. The project quoted is at Project MS 11/18 - Review of Advisory Circulars & Development of CAAP relating to limited category and experimental aircraft | Civil Aviation Safety Authority and closed 15th January 2013 ..... Look forward to hearing whether there is any substance to this.
  24. We booked accommodation awhile ago. Looking forward to it.
  25. Pretty sure the builder can only sign off on an aircraft he/she owns. Once it's sold the authority (15/16) is no longer valid.
