  1. Something I noticed on the weekend when using the Skyecho with a samsung tablet with cellular. With the SE connected, I lose mobile data, and avplan traffic as a result, also lose weather info, ability to download terminal info etc. If I disconnect the SE, then mobile data is restored. What am I doing wrong, or is this an AVplan Android version bug?
  2. IMHO, for some pilots, aircraft such as these are aspirational items. And after purchase, maybe the reality of ownership sinks in, and the aircraft only gets used to it's capacity 5% of the time. The other 95% of the time, the Warrior, RV-7 or 172 they had previously was ideal and significantly less to keep.

  4. Yes, the CASA hearings I've seen, the CASA execs make the Senators look very sharp.
  5. How about we refer to the current instrument CASA 31/22 from July 1 2022 https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2022L00917 Key point here is section 4.3 - basically if you maintain the engine as Jabiru specifies, then it doesn't apply. 4 Condition on authorisations (1) This section applies to the following classes of authorisations, issued in relation to a Jabiru‑powered aircraft: (a) an experimental certificate; (b) a certificate of airworthiness; (c) a special flight permit. (2) For the purposes of subregulation 11.068 (1) of CASR, it is a condition that the aircraft is operated in accordance with the operating limitations stated in Schedule 1. (3) However, subsection (2) does not apply if all the requirements stated in Schedule 2 have been met in relation to the aircraft. Also, I'm pretty sure that report linked by extralite above was roasted by the Senate Inquiry Committee as being a joke and was critically flawed.
  6. If you look on the goggle maps and the ad listing, it looks as though the property shares the runway with the neighbour. Considering that, I'd offer 5 $mil 🤣
  7. If you're happy to land at Lilydale, I'll come pick you up and lend you a car for the weekend. PM if interested.
  8. I hear Redbull are looking for pilots....🤣
  9. Tyabb could be another option ,it's only 1km to the station, but not sure about regular Public transport there. Leaving a car somewhere is going to be the quickest option though as getting from the airfield to a metro train station is going to add a fair bit of time.
  10. Another Nose wheel wt reference point Evektor Sportstar Plus - 70kg on the nose wheel. 321Kg BEW
  11. Took the new SE2 to Temora for the weekend. Had plenty of battery for the trip up and back Below is the track log from FlightAware for the trip home.
  12. I can see RAAus putting pressure on CASA to hold of the self declared medicals for RPLs. Or lobbying for the removal of CTA access for self declared medicals. When RPLs get self declared medicals, it will seriously disadvantage RAAus. RPL will give you 1500kg MTOW, 2 POB and CTA access, all on a self declared medical. RPC will give you 760kg MTOW, 2 POB and no CTA access on a self declared medical. What's the use RAAus then?
  13. So we send our good wine to the UK and Fosters to the US. That tells you what we think of Americans 🤣
  14. I'm not sure they're concerned with selling more - they can't keep up with demand for kits as it is.
  15. You won't need it, global warming will make winter coats obsolete🤣
  16. Aus post are terrible; Example 1: I ordered a wetsuit and sailing gloves for my wife. the Gloves came from a shop in Elizabeth St, Melbourne - 3 weeks, the Wetsuit from an online shop in the UK, 4 days. Example 2: We installed some equipment in the Aus Post Sunshine Distribution centre a few years back. When we went out to measure up, I noticed 2 packages sitting in the catch nets under the overhead conveyors, the catch nets are about 3m above the ground. 5 weeks later when we went to install the equipment, the packages were still there.
  17. Refund received today 🙂
  18. I recently ordered and paid for 3 items from an Australian owend online aviation shop. The following day I received an email saying they could no longer source 2 of the items and the third item had increased in price and I would have to pay more than the advertised and invoiced price. They also offered a full refund, which I accepted and provided payment details. 7 weeks later and several emails later, I haven't received my refund and they no longer answer my emails or return my phone calls. I won't name the shop just yet, as I'm still trying to work it out with them. I paid by EFT as I've dealt with them before and thought they were trustworthy, should have paid by credit card in hindsight. It's the first time I've been dudded by an online shop. Buyer beware.

RF, when you get around to getting the ally plate cut, water jet cutting gives a much better finish in that thickness.
  20. The RV kits aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for. I know someone who is building a RV14A and the kit is incredible - am I tempted, yes, because the kit just makes it look easy. The cost blow out is up to the builder, my friend is wanting a full IFR panel, he's looking at putting in $100K of avionics 😲😵💸
  21. From this article, it's not a 4 seater RV15 AOPA First Look
  22. It'll have a stall speed sub 40kts, cruise at 140knts and a payload of 200kg with full fuel and 2 POB It'll be a modern C180 Skywagon that you can build at home. What's not to like?
  23. The question is, why did the Capt put in only the minimum amount - by putting in minimum fuel he gets on the ground on time. Being cynical, with all the flack the Q have had on delays and late flights, not a bad strategy and actually saves the company money.
  24. At the current price, the engine, prop and avionics would make it a good donor for someone building a RV.
  25. Interestingly, Tyabb have just banned Helos from hover taxiing to the Avgas bowser.
