  1. Are you trying to alienate yourself from AUF/RAA pilots ? FWIW- Senior RAA instructors have to pass the PPL theory exam. I have flown with many RAA instructors over the years and they have been just as good or better than the GA instructors I flew with. One RAA CFI friend of mine who I have flown with on many occasions was an Airline pilot, a Virgin sim instructor and flew GA for many years in Papua and has approx 24000 hours. Imo you analyse things too much. I went from a Jabiru LSA55 to a Piper Archer. The Piper is easier to fly out of the two. Basic GA aircraft like the Warrior, Archer, C172 are generally EASIER to fly.
  2. Nah you are having the discussion. You are trying to suggest extra training for ultralight instructors that simply is not needed.
  3. Why try and fix something that isn't broken ? The current training program has been in place for a lot longer than you have been involved wih the RAA and it has been working fine.
  4. Welcome Jimson
  5. Welcome .
  6. Good to see Blitz on the segment.
  7. IMO 100 Hp is just about maxed out at 600 kgs. If aircraft get too much heavier than that, bigger engines will be needed. (Engines like the 3300 Jab).
  8. I guess they have never heard of ear and eye protection.
  9. No wonder insurance is expensive.
  10. What a waste of friggen money.
  11. Well at least they could have ask Mr Skidmore for more cash. While they had time with him.
  12. Has anybody praying at night actually had " the voice" speak back to them?
  13. CASA in their kindness coughed up an extra $100 in support of the RAA.
  14. Welcome Wayne
  15. Awesome Scotty, we need to attract people who have always " wanted to fly" but for what ever reason have never actually got around to doing it. Aircraft on trailers placed in shopping centres maybe be the trigger to get people motivated enough to have a crack at learning to fly.
  16. Welcome Dave
  17. Wow awesome set up Dsam
  18. I still think the best way to promote recreational aviation is to trailer a aircraft ( like Skyfox flight training used to do in the nineties) to major shopping centres. Skyfoxes are getting long in the tooth now so anything similar that is easily trailerable will do, a Eurofox or something. The key I thing back then was that people saw the aircraft on the trailer and thought, wow I don't need a hangar. The general public are not as dumb when it comes to aviation as we make out.
  19. After reading this whole thread, I think Bolly has been outstanding with their customer service, going above and beyond what is expected. They would definitely be my first contact if I was looking for a prop.
  20. Hi Sean, I think what Myria is getting at is that even though you are not doing it commercially, you will still need insurance incase something is damaged. It is unfortunately the way the modern world is with litigation etc.
  21. Wow great price, the Fast Wing stuff was as dear as poison.
  22. Yup I have two registered bikes and the rego is expensive being dual seat registered the insurance isnt too bad though. My KTM 640 Adventure is $280 full comp and my KTM1190 adventure is only around $480 full comp. (rating one) and it pays to shop around, my 640 is insured with Insure my ride and my 1190 is insured with QBE.
  23. We used to use the Fast Wing brand of products, one was a cleaner and the other was a paint sealer. We used the products on our Piper Archer. We were even able to source it locally on the Gold Coast at a automotive joint. Aircraft spruce sells it as well.
  24. The licence and registration fees imo are excessive when compared to GA registrations and licence fees. They only pay a one off fee for their aircraft registration and also a one off licence fee. But compared to vehicle registration fees, it is cheap.
  25. ( Hypothetically, since I do not own a school.) If I owned a flying school and I was looking for a new trainer. I would seriously consider the A32.
