  1. I should fly from Boonah to Hecks and pick up the trophy. I wouldn't bother doing a flight plan but since its just up the road.
  2. Right o I will be more specific, if there was two groups looking after recreational flying WHO REGISTER ULTRALIGHTS AND ISSUE PILOT CERTIFICATES FOR 3 AXIS PILOTS, would it be so bad ?
  3. If there was two different groups looking after recreational aviation in Australia would it be so bad ? A plus would be competition as well as it would stop the RAA having a monopoly.
  4. When I learnt to fly the average to solo was around 10 to 12 hours. I have no idea why it seems to be taking longer than that these days. Maybe people are not as co- ordinated these days or the flying schools are ripping people off.
  5. Inox is the go as its main ingredient is Lanolin which cones from sheep. It is excreted from sebaceous glands on the sheep and works its way through the wool. It is also known as wool oil or grease.
  6. For a bit of useless information, WD 40 was invented in 1953. The WD stands for Water Displacement and the 40 stands for it took 40 attempts to perfect their solution. It still remains a little secret what oil is used in it. The Safety Data sheet lists whats it it of course but it says " aviation oil " which is actually a minor part of the mix.
  7. I passed my GFPT back in 1998 and I also have an RAA pilot cert with X country TW, HP blah blah. I have not as yet applied for an RPL purely because of this need to apply for an ASIC.
  8. I don't have an ASIC, and I will never get one. I do have frequent access to an aircraft though so I should probably have one. But being realistic, the whole ASIC thing is a crock of $hit. I fly aeroplanes for fun, but I ride motorbikes for the same reason. The difference is, I don't have to be a member of an outfit to ride motorbikes. This flying business is getting too political and expensive for no other reason than to keep plebs employed. I don't mind paying to hire an aircraft, but I don't like paying money for no benefit, as in membership to fly a aircraft with numbers on the side of it, when the same aircraft with letters on the side of it means don't need to be a member of anything.
  9. I honestly think it doesn't matter who they get, Top gear is finished without Jeeza, Richard and James.
  10. I "agreed" your post for the first 3 paragraphs, not the last one saying you're cynical.
  11. Interesting, it took us over 8 hours to drive from St Annes in the english midlands to Lossiemouth Scotland. The UK isn't as small as everyone makes out. Well not traveling Nth/Sth anyway.
  12. Interesting to read that Jabiru's only make up 17 % of the RAA fleet. Although it is the most popular aircraft, I thought it would have had a higher percentage than that.

Yup, when she left Boonah the guys at Gympie replaced all the fabric.
  14. Is your aircraft experimental ? If so make the MTOW what you want.

I know her well, she used to be owned by a mate of mine and was one line at Airsport Boonah a few years ago.
  16. That is correct, it is just for what you have said. It is not for any other reason.
  17. Nothing wrong with the above. Frequent oil changes are great.
  18. Welcome Hamish
  19. Time to solo has a lot to do with what aircraft the student is learning in. As an example - somebody would be a real gun if they went solo in a tail wheel Skyfox under 10 hours. But if somebody took more than 10 hours to solo in the Skyfox nose wheel version, the Gazelle. They would probably be better off taking up knitting as a hobby.
  20. I have told you before, my name isn't Darren. Which part of my name isn't Darren don't you understand ?
  21. Yeah they will, online for free. .
  22. Nah, Jeremy, Richard and James are doing their own show in Netflix.
  23. Imagine an accident report stating " I couldn't get drive off the main wheels as they were losing traction and spining on the grass during the take off phase and I hit the fnce at the end of the runway". There would be head scratching going on.
