  1. The thing is " clear of cloud " is an easy rule to comply with. Above 3000 when the rule say horizontal distance of 5000 metres. Seriously, who can judge a distance of 5000 metres.
  2. I have one thanks.
  3. Yup that is the same engine Aero are selling with their Aventura sea plane.
  4. They wont help if you're too low to the ground to deploy them.
  5. I have the same log book that is from the student pack that Ian sells. It is great and will last for ever.
  6. It is a big step forward IMO Jabiru going with Nikasil bores, motorcycles have been using this for years.
  7. Don't let them " take it", it is your property not theirs. Just take it with you every time you fly. After you qualify, don't bother taking it, ( I leave mine at home and fill it out when I get home). HITC - used to fill out my log book and sign off on everyone of my flights when I was his student. He then gave me my book back for safe keeping. Some students like to keep their log book at the school, it should be the students choice though.
  8. I went flying as well at Boonah, caught up with Gareth and had a look at his beautiful ROKO, there were a few aircraft around. Beautiful weather today.
  9. ^ There are hundreds of posts and a couple of threads on VFR pilots flying into IMC. They will be found under the search function, hours upon hours of good reading.
  10. I hope you mean through to people.
  11. Aero adventure www.sea-plane.com sell a suzuki based 117hp engine that looks good.
  12. It should be Ok, as mention above, it should be have a castle nut and a split pin as the locking medium. If however it is a Nylock nut, then yup it can be a cause of concern.
  13. I reckon it would cost a pretty penny.
  14. Looks good but it also looks like it is only a drawing at this stage.
  15. They are only good for exam purposes, once that is completed, throw then onto a shelf somewhere and use them as dust collectors.
  16. I actually opened the CASR and CAR publications and flicked through them about 15 years ago. I still have them somewhere in the study.
  17. Just hop into the bad boy, kick it in the guts and take off. You will work it out in the air. Actually Yenns advice above sounds great.
  18. So buying a new WAC is a waste of time and money as the latest ones haven't been updated.
  19. There is a very small chance of that happening.
  20. Channel seven has just said the wreckage was found 36 klms from Gympie and unfortunately the pilot was found deceased.
  21. Welcome Roger
  22. It's best to update WAC maps from time to time as towns, cities and mountains move all the time.
  23. I agree, there is a certain chemistry between the 3 that has made British Top Gear so successful.
  24. I now have a bit more information and this is like above NOT confirmed. It may be a tail wheel aircraft similar to a Skyfox. Lets hope the pilot is found safe. He could have put down somewhere in the bush and needs rescuing.
  25. Nah FT, but I like the way that in the states there are aviation themed bars and eateries. With our small population I guess it wouldn't work. We went to a place in Canada called Wings bar and Grill. Not exactly aviation wings but close enough.
