  1. I was thinking more like a barren desert .
  2. Welcome CB
  3. Just adding here, the company started in 1987 as K & J Radiators Currumbin Gold Coast. The owners are Kees and Judy Wheel. Paul Wheels parents. Then in 1997 Kees and his son Paul started PWR which stands for Paul Wheel Radiators, they make custom Aluminum radators. The spin off was Pauls V8 racing team PWR racing. Paul used to ride motocross from a young fella right up to the point of starting his V8 supercar career.
  4. Minimum of two people.
  5. I can understand old mate committing suicide but I cannot understand him taking 149 people with him.
  6. BREAKING NEWS- all Australian airliners must now have two people in the cockpit at all times as of now.
  7. We had to drive through through Khamis Mushayt to get from our compound to King Khalid airbase every day. We used to see the odd turkey like the ones in the above video every now and again. But we were pretty much were guaranteed to see a prang every day. Normally low speed stuff where the windsreens were smashed out by their heads. None of them wore seat belts.
  8. I have another idea but it would have the Pax peaking. Have a policy of both crew in the cockpit or none. If one wants to go to the loo, the other one leaves the cockpit as well and let George ( auto pilot) fly the plane until they both go back into the cockpit.
  9. Windows were tested as well. No problems apparently.
  10. I have done a bit of research. The USA airmarshalls use P226 SIG Sauer pistols with 12 rounds of normal .357 SIG ammunition with 125 grain Hollow points. They are not concerned if a round goes through a fuselage because nothing happens apart from a small leak out of the bullet hole. Massive explosive decompression is a fallacy. The FAA and even the Myth Busters tested this out on pressurized aircraft. Nothing dramatic happens, just a slow leak.
  11. Hi Phil, the projectiles used a frangible and are designed not to penetrate through the aircraft fuselage.
  12. I agree, although from memory the Air marshall firearms test was that the shooter had to hit a head size target within a certain amount of time. They had a few seconds and the distance was about 10 metres or so. Most marshalls were recruited from the state and federal police forces and they couldnt shoot to save themselves. Not many ex military guys got a gig because they wanted peeps with a policing background. I heard that the test parameters were lowered because nearly all of them failed. Any decent IPSC shooter with a few years experience would easily pass the Air marshall shooting test. Hitting multiple dinner size plate targets in rapid succession is normal. Ps- I say from memory because the shooting test was public knowledge at the time. I worked as a Range Officer at the Southport Indoor Pistol Club when the advertisments came out for the jobs, but it was pretty much a closed shop.
  13. It doesn't work that way, a air marshall has to be able to hit a head size target with in a certain distance, ( pretty close) in a small amount of time. They use fragmentation bullets that dont penetrate the fuselage. Air marshals are not soft c*cks. They wouldn't be in the job if they were.
  14. I read this and it is scary. And this dude must have been seriously mental. I don't care if people want to top themselves. But to kill 149 others is more than just suicide. It is terrorism .
  15. At the end of the day, it is still statistically very unlikely to die in this situation. But $hit happens I guess.
  16. Maybe, but the pax shouldn't know who he or she is.
  17. If a air marshall can carry a gun, he can also be responsible enough to carry some sort of electronic over ride key.
  18. The easiest way to combat this scenario is a policy where there is always two members of the crew inside the cockpit at all times. Or have air marshalls on every flight who can bypass the overide system that currently is in place.
  19. I think if somebody, whether a pilot or terrorist gets in the cockpit and locks everybody and decides to crash it. It is all over. Great idea above because it is thinking outside the square IRT moving all the pax to the back. But the dude in the cockpit would just shut down the engines. They are going to crash regardless.
  20. Only if it made all the way around without breaking down.
  21. It could never happen here as we have the ASIC .
  22. It must have been hard to witness it Tim. These things happen from time to time unfortunately.
  23. Apparently a woman has been killed.
  24. I say was not is because he is dead.
