Pilot in coma after plane hits house

A pilot, whose plane has crashed into a house at Darra in Brisbane's south-west, is in a medically-induced coma.

Police say blue smoke was seen coming out of the plane before it crashed into a house on Monier Road just after 11:00am AEST.

It appears the pilot tried to make an emergency landing in a park but clipped power lines and hit the roof of a house.

The plane landed upside down in the backyard and caught fire.

Home owner Brett McDonald helped the pilot out of the burning wreckage.

He says he did not think about his own safety.

"The main concern was to get him out and make sure he was OK," Mr McDonald said.

Ambulance officers say the pilot has has sustained burns and is in a coma in hospital.

Police say no one else has been injured.
